PEDIATRIC SCREENING TOOL VALIDATION FOR OSA FUND | AACP

The AACP in collaboration with Dr. Judith Owens, Dr. Edmund Liem and. Dr. Rakesh Bhattacharjee are asking for donations to the Pediatric Screening Tool Fund. Validating this form will help more offices identify children potentially suffering from a sleep breathing disorder.

This fund helps support the pilot study engineered by Dr. Judy Owens, Dr. Edmund Liem and Dr. Rakesh Bhattacherjee which will streamline the diagnosis of childhood obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)- a disease that disproportionately affects minority populations. Although OSA wasn’t officially recognized in children until the 1970s, an estimated 2.25 million children have OSA. OSA can lead to lasting issues with both cardiovascular and metabolic functions. By homogenizing the process of identification and diagnosis both dentally and medically, many more children will receive the help they need.
